Casually elegant, Pastina is home to some of the best Italian cooking in town inspired by the freshest, ingredients, cooked simply and prepared beautifully with excellent service and a room chock full of good feelings. Many of the clientele are on a first name basis with super host Franco Catullo who supplies ample amounts of Italian charm to go along with the delicate antipasti, splendid pastas, fresh fish, hefty veal chops and fabulous desserts flown in from Italy. The mouthwatering line-up includes many traditional favorites like the Caprese Salad quilted with creamy textured fresh mozzarella, tomato and a splash of extra virgin olive oil, Pennealla Vodka flambéed with vodka, shallots and crushed red peppers in a delectable pink sauce, plump pillows of home made ravioli stuffed with sweet succulent lobster, swordfish simply grilled with lemon capers and white wine and Chilean sea bass in an assertive mustard-ca-per sauce. There’s veal scaloppini topped with eggplant, proscuitto, mozzarella and white wine, grilled veal chop in a porcini mushroom sauce and filet mignon sautéed with green peppercorn and brandy. Pastina strikes a perfect balance between favorite dishes of the moment and trusty standbys with waiters that have that Italian enthusiasm for seeing diners happy.
